An Introduction To My Walk With Christ

To be honest, my journey into the Catholic social media/content creator space was one I hadn’t planned. With my initial intention being about creating a space where I could dive deeper into the meaning of Spiritual Fitness (one of the Four Pillars of Fitness I developed for my online coaching fitness company), I released my first video on the channel as a way to introduce my faith beliefs to my audience.

What was supposed to be a simple foundation and introduction, kicked off one of the fastest growing Catholic-focused channels on YouTube.

The name of that channel is That Black Catholic Chick – you can check it out here.

The Video That Started It All

Only 5% of Catholics in America are black. And I happen to be one of them.

My experience as a lifelong black catholic woman is one that is very unique in that many of my peers do not share in my faith experience.

In this video, I want you to step into my world while I invite you to join in on the ride of my imperfect faith-filled life. This is why I’m Catholic.

I Strive To Bring Personality To My Content In The Catholic Social Media/Commentary Space

When God has a plan for your life, there’s nothing you can do to stop the ball from rolling once you surrender to Him.

My channel quickly grew and started to catch the eye of some of the biggest names in the Catholic space, such as Pints With Aquinas (see below). I was the new kid on the block with a perspective not often seen.

Bold, cutting edge, confident, and not afraid to be the underdog.

My channel quickly evolved as a space for the average Catholic who relates to the story of the Prodigal Son.

Those who may have been born in the church, but stepped away in apostasy for some time. Perhaps, like myself, they found themselves searching for Christ in spaces where He wasn’t, simply because the world told them there was better outside of the Catholic Church. But now, these fallen away souls are back to the ONE true faith.

My love for Christ mixed with my love for fitness, bodybuilding, and Old Hollywood didn’t sit well with my early viewers.

Under constant scrutiny, I decided to let my sense of humor take on “the trolls” and the following videos show that side of me that’s not afraid to be the butt of the jokes.

Introducing Black Jesus...

Well, I got something to show you all. I want to introduce you to black Jesus.

Now, I recently got some comments about my wall decor from viewers who said they are immodest and invoke the spirit of Satan to all my viewers.

As Jesus said “get BEHIND ME Satan,” so I had to change my ways. And I had to show you the perfect solution!

Y’all, just pray for me. LMAO

Warning: This video will make you vuuury upset if ya don’t understand s-a-t-i-r-e. St Lawrence ~ Pray for us. St. Philip Neri ~ Pray for us.

My Views On The Church Are Orthodox And Aligned With The Teachings of the Church

Humor aside, my presence in this space has made me take a closer look at not only what I believe, but why I believe it.

As a cradle Catholic, it’s very easy to rest on what you’ve learned simply from growing up in a Catholic home. Even more so if, like me, you’ve been Catholic educated from kindergarten to college (St. Saviour Elementary School, Cathedral High School, Fordham University).

My understanding of my faith has evolved greatly since I embarked on this journey as a Catholic content creator.

I can without a doubt stand with the Church and say that my views and beliefs are aligned with Church teachings. I hold the highest respect for our current pontiff. I strive to live a life of virtue, under the consecration to Our Blessed Mother. And that I am orthodox in my beliefs, standing “10 toes down for Jesus Christ.”

Being Catholic Made Me Question Liberalism & Wokeness

Can you be liberal and still be Catholic? As Catholics, our faith beliefs are woven into the tapestry of our entire lives. The way we see politics, culture, relationships, and ourselves is rooted in our connection to God and His commands for our lives.

The more I became devout in faith, the more my view of the world started to shift and solidify in a way that has kept one question front of mind…

Can Catholics in today’s rapidly shifting modern world be liberal? Or do you eventually become more conservative as you embrace the fullness of Catholicism and its dogma?

Let me share what happened to me…

Blessed Mary Is THE Example Of SUBMISSION For Modern Women

The world has lied to modern women about what submission means. But the Blessed Mary, our Mother of God, is THE most important and pious example of what submission unto the Lord is in action.

Let’s discuss how the connection between the Theotokos and women today can lead to a deeper connection to faith, and strengthen your walk with Christ.

And of course, for you guys out there… This video is definitely for you!

As God calls you to submit to Him in all of your ways. We all have something to learn from the Blessed Mother Mary.

I'm Not Afraid To "Go There" And Share Who I Am To Connect With My Audience

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

I’m not perfect.

I would even argue that I’m not that great of a Catholic. I make plenty of mistakes, I often have a hot temper with folks on the internet that I’m constantly keeping at bay. I’ve struggled with reaching for my phone first thing upon waking vs dropping to my knees for my morning prayer to the Lord for waking me up to seize the day for Him.

I’ve made the choice to be honest with my audience, and to let them know when I’ve struggled and had my darkest days.

One such occasion happened during Lent 2024 where I went through my own “Dark Night of the Soul” moment.

My weakest point in my faith journey that almost had me feeling like this life as a Catholic woman was “too hard.”

Low and behold, this pivotal moment (in retrospect) was God bringing me to the brink of my own salvation, and giving me an opportunity to grow closer to Him. To realize without Him I am nothing.

When I shared this with my audience, I got a response I never anticipated. Support, prayers, and people reaching out to share their own struggles.

I let others into my process of working my way out of that period through faith and prayer. Here are the videos from that series.

Quitting The Christian Life. It's Too Hard...

I’m at a rock bottom. This is a raw and explicit conversation.

If you’re easily offended, don’t watch.

This Christian stuff is hard. It will break you.

It will make you question everything you think you know. It will make you miserable. You’ll question, “God, WHY me?!” And eventually, the only solution you can come to is to just give this sh** up and go running back into the world.

Jesus I Trust In You, Jesus I CHOOSE You...

My Sins Possess My Soul Like Demons Stealing Me From Christ

The thing about our sins is that when you don’t address them, they possess you just like a demon.

And it may not be actual possession where demons are jumping in your body and making you do things.

But, demons have a way of manipulating the mind and making you obsessively think about things, or turn your your eyes away from God and turn them toward sin.

I'm Winning The Spiritual Battle According To God's Will

Continuing in the desert with Christ in the midst of Lent, I’ve learned a valuable lesson…

Wherever you go, there you are. You cannot outrun the parts of yourself that the Lord wants to break down and free you of. All so that you may grow closer to Him. The spiritual battles we face can only be overcome by one thing…

Knowing He is right there with us. But… We have to pick up our crosses, and do the work. Trust in Him, and let all things be done according to HIS WILL.

Losing This Stylus Made See The TRUTH About Being Catholic

As I arrive at the light at the end of the tunnel, my Catholic faith has been the foundation in me growing closer to God over the last few weeks.

It’s crazy but, this simple object taught me a valuable lesson about attachments.

And what happens when you let go of control, and allow God’s Will to sit in the driver’s seat.

I Cover Controversial Topics With Compassion, Passion and Grace

When it comes to current events and news that my audience would be interested in, I try to take an approach that leads with logic and church teachings – leaving emotion and hype at the door.

The first step, for me, is to go straight to the source of our beliefs (the Catechism, scripture, and the Vatican website) to bring facts into the conversation for a well-rounded approach to understanding controversial topics.

My goal is always to break down the message, ignore the hype, and allow my audience to have a more critical eye on various topics that impact us as followers of the Faith.

There isn’t a topic I’m afraid to cover. From the church’s stance on transgenderism to same-sex marriage, abortion, the role of women in the church, and more.

Here are a few examples.

Kneeling And Receiving On The Tongue Is PROHIBITED HERE?

A Catholic parish told newly converted Catholics that kneeling and receiving on the tongue is… Not allowed.

But what does the Church really say about this?

Let’s discuss.

Theology of Fitness - My Ministry To Bring Christ to Every-BODY

If I can say I have a ministry and a message to share with the world, it’s that God’s grace and goodness is present in each of our own bodies.

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 we are told that our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit, and to glorify God with all of our bodies.

When I read this, it sent my mind into a state of awe and wonder as I searched for what that truly meant. It was at this same time that I was diving deep into St. Pope John Paul II’s pivotal work, Theology of the Body. Once I saw the parallels with fitness, I couldn’t unsee it. And there was born my passion for teaching others how to glorify their bodies through the Word of God within their fitness journey.

I’ve been blessed to share this message in talks across various stages, and would love to bring this discussion to your next event.

Here are a few examples of my work.
